Filter Unit – Rockbag
What are rockbags?
Filter Units, known in the UK as Rockbags, protect river shores, bridges and offshore structures from scour damage. Made of recycled PET and constructed using a unique form of knitting, known as Raschel, the filter unit is filled with aggregate making it a very flexible solution for marine works. The Units are a proven solution for preventing scour and erosion, they also fit harmoniously into the marine environment. Small fish, plants and other aquatic life can live in the interstices inside the Units which form a natural habitat for marine flora and fauna.
Filter Units can easily be produced by using a specially designed filling frame reducing the time, labour and equipment to a minimum. Unlike other conventional solutions, Rockbags are produced easily and quickly with no down time. They can be produced at site or outside the worksite, be stacked, stored and transported very easily.
Available in 2 sizes for the civil engineering sector (2 & 4 tonne) the Filter Units have a safety factor of 6 and feature a one point lifting ring for fast installation.
